Visa for stays of more than 90 days for studies, training, internships, or volunteering. It is also issued for au pairs and language assistants.
A student visa is not required for stays of up to 90 days. Depending on nationality, a short-stay visa may be required (see "Schengen Visas").
The following family members may obtain a visa to accompany the student:
- The spouse or common-law partner.
- Minor or incapacitated children.
The visa for a student's family member does not authorize work.
Activities that allow you to obtain a student visa
- Full-time studies at an approved educational institution leading to a degree or certificate of study.
- Doctoral studies.
- Training activities.
- Student mobility programs in secondary and/or high school at an officially recognized educational or scientific center.
- Non-work internships in public or private organizations or entities that cannot be classified as internship visas (see “Internship Visas”).
- Volunteer services within the framework of programs that pursue objectives of general interest.
- Au pair programs.
- Conversation assistants.

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 3 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used
previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:
- Taken against a white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such
items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your
application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the center.
